Changing the infrastructure of a business can often be a daunting and difficult decision. Nonetheless, when the decision involves a clear opportunity to either increase sales or reduce costs, and hence grow profitability, then the decision can often be a simple one. Switching to Aptela Business VoIP, or to any other VoIP service, can be one of those kinds of decisions.

Many businesses and individuals have moved over to using VoIP in recent years. For instance, in 2006, the consumer popularity of VoIP hit an all time high as there were over 7 million VoIP subscribers in the United States. This number continues to grow today. VoIP involves the ability to make and receive phone calls over an internet protocol network, which is typically over the internet. Cablevision Systems is offering IP-based voice trunking service with up to 100 direct-dial phone numbers on small business telephone systems in the hope of getting more small businesses to rip out the telco T-1 lines for good.

The Optimum Voice Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Trunking service uses a company's existing small business IP PBX system, and the operator's SIP trunking service now has the capacity of up to 24 streams, which is equal to the legacy T-1s . This is a notable increase from the 12 streams that were previously available. The service's ability to provide up to 100 direct inward dial (DID) telephone numbers also represents an increase of 40 numbers from the previous version. Optimum Voice SIP Trunking is now compliant with Avaya IP Office 6.0 as well.
